Man, 35, charged for rape attempt
CEBU, Philippines - A 35-year-old man was indicted for allegedly trying to rape the 23-year-old sister of his live-in partner.
The accused, whose name withheld by The Freeman to protect the identity of the victim, was held for trial by Cebu City Assistant Prosecutor Van Russel Inopiquez for attempted rape.
He was directed to pay P120,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
The 23-year-old victim said the accused tried to rape her on August 25 around11:30 p.m. in Barangay Sapangdaku, Cebu City.
The victim was sleeping inside her room and was awakened when a person checked her room and went outside.
She then pretended to sleep. After a while, the accused entered her room allegedly naked and attempted to rape her.
She was able to escape and told her parents, who were downstairs, what the accused did to her.
When her parents talked to the accused, the latter reportedly got angry and went outside the house.
The victim reported the incident to the barangay tanods who arrived in their area, resulting to the immediate arrest of the accused.
The accused was then brought to the Guadalupe Police Station for detention. (FREEMAN)
