CEBU, Philippines - To find money to use for his birthday party, an inmate and three others connived to burgle a video game coin machine inside Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center recently.
Nixon Oli and three accomplices, Marvin Blanco, Wendell Espinosa and Maico Maro, were caught red-handed below the CPDRC viewing deck where the videogame machine was located.
CPDRC warden Marco Toral said the four inmates sneaked out of their cells before the 10 p.m. curfew on which all cells will be padlocked.
A certain Lito Granada, a leader of a group of inmates, allegedly caught the suspects stealing. He then quickly alarmed the nearby officers.
After the incident, the jail wardens sent the four inmates to the isolation room while the former investigated on the burglary.
In their investigation, Toral said, around P1,000 worth of coins was taken by the four.
Oli said they have already divided some of the money among themselves and and gave some to inmates in other cells.
He added that he planned this burglary together with his three lookouts to find something he can spend for his upcoming birthday tomorrow. He said he wanted to throw a little celebration for himself.
Oli, a native of Tuburan, Cebu with the case of illegal possession of firearms, has not been receiving any visits for a while now. — (FREEMAN)
