Floating body found

CEBU, Philippines – A man’s body was found floating in the waters of Mactan Channel off Sitio Toril, Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.

The body was identified to be that of Jaymar Berdon, 28, of Purok Bombshell, Barangay Kalawisan.

Police believed Berdon had been floating dead since 4:30 dawn that day.

According to PO2 Jomar Florentino of  Lapu-Lapu City Police Office Homicide Section, the body was found by Amado Amoin, 62, a fisherman and barangay watchman in Kalawisan.

Amoin was casting his net into the sea when he chanced upon Berdon's body.

The fisherman then rushed to Gun-ob Police Station to report the incident.

Berdon was brought to Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police Officer 2 Florentino said Berdon was last seen that midnight by his brother.

He added that they did not see any trace of foul play on Berdon’s body which was submitted for autopsy.
