CEBU, Philippines – Close to P600,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect, Jonas Trazona, 29, was apprehended by operatives of the Regional Special Operations Group after he “personally sold” three small packs of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer in exchange of P600.
RSOG chief Superintendent Rex Derilo said Trazona is considered a level two drug pusher who can dispose 100 to 200 grams a week.
Trazona was placed under surveillance for three weeks before the operation was carried out, Derilo added.
Police seized from Trazona nine medium and 42 small packs of suspected shabu with a total weight of 50 grams.
They also recovered the P600 buy-bust money and another P2,050 cash believed to be proceeds from the suspect’s drug trade.
Derilo said most of Trazona’s customers are students.
Derilo believed the drugs seized from Trazona were intended for distribution during the Sinulog Festival.
The supply and demand for illegal drugs are expected to surge with the Sinulog revelry, he said. With this, they have doubled their efforts on their campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs.
When interviewed by reporters, Trazona declined to further comment on the allegation.
He said he was not involved in illegal drug trade, claiming that the illegal drugs confiscated from his possession were only consigned to him.
Even then, Trazona will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
