Man, woman found dead in two motels

CEBU, Philippines – Two separate motels, two separate deaths, both in one day. Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman who was found dead inside a pension house room in Barangay Day-as, Cebu City yesterday morning. Naked and lifeless, the body was discovered lying on the floor beside the bed inside Room 35 of Ence Pension House.

The victim was believed to be between 30 to 40 years old, stood 4’10” and had shoulder-length hair with fair complexion.

Homicide investigator PO1 Ruth Violango said the woman might have been murdered her body showed signs of external injuries.

She was reportedly strangled because a white shirt was wrapped around her neck when her body was found.

The room was also in a state of disarray and the blood stains inside the room may suggest there was foul play, Violango said.

Male companion

Police said the victim checked in with an unidentified male companion around 9 p.m. on Monday.

The names written on the copy of the receipt issued to them could only be read as “Mr. and Mrs.” and the last name could not be deciphered. The address written was Pinamungajan, Cebu.

Violango said the hotel staff heard a woman shouting for help around 2 a.m. the following morning but did not bother since she only heard it once.

Minutes after, the male companion of the victim asked the staff if he could go out. Then man reportedly went back to the room before leaving the pension house carrying a yellow plastic bag. He never came back.

No footage

Violango said there was no closed-circuit television camera installed inside the pension house, but she said they will check if there are CCTV cameras installed in nearby establishments that could have recorded footages of the male companion.

The hotel worker described the male companion as a tall man with dark complexion while the victim was wearing a white shirt and jeans when they checked in.

The police are still conducting follow-up investigation on the incident and the cadaver was brought to St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.

Suicide after sex?

In Mandaue City, an unidentified man believed to have engaged in an earlier sex with a woman, was found hanging dead when discovered inside a lodging house room in Barangay Guizo yesterday dawn.

Centro Police said they discovered the victim’s death after the staff of Hidden Lodge called them up when the woman, with whom the victim allegedly had sex earlier, was shouting for help.

When the police arrived, they found out that the unidentified man was already hanging dead. He was said to use a bedsheet to tie around his neck and attached it to the ceiling fan of the said motel.

His woman companion was later identified as Joan Suniga, 21, married, and resident of Barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City.

Investigation conducted by PO3 Marino Lofranco revealed that prior to the death of the unidentified man, the woman and the victim met just outside the lodge.

Paid less

According to the woman’s affidavit, the man paid her P250 for sex. However, the victim allegedly got mad after the woman tried to leave the room when she agreed that she would stay with him for a longer time.

Aside from the fact that she was paid less, the woman did not like to stay longer with the man because he was laughing all the time when they had sex. She said she was already afraid, especially when the man admitted that he was high on drugs.

But as she tried to leave the room, the man instead mauled him so she lost her consciousness. When she woke up, her left ear was already allegedly bitten by the man.

It was at this point that she shouted for help and was heard by a roomboy who happened to pass by their room.

The roomboy then went to ground floor to inform the cashier of the mauling who in turn then immediately called for police assistance.

The roomboy went back to the room and the man reportedly still continued to maul the woman.

With the help of the roomboy, the woman had the chance to get out of the room but the man instead locked himself up inside.

When the police arrived, they destroyed the door into the room only to discover the man already hanging dead.
