Store chain donates rubber boats to Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines – The Mandaue City government received 50 rubber boats and 50 gloves in donation from the president of Gaisano chain of stores for the use of disaster personnel.

Ret. Gen. Roy Kyamko, executive director of Vicsal Foundation, Inc., made the turnover at their office, representing the donor, Arthur Emmanuel, president of Metro Retail Stores Group of Companies who is abroad.

Vicsal is the founder of Metro Retail Stores Group of Companies or Metro Gaisano chain of companies. Both hold office at C.D. Seno Street, Mandaue City.

The donation was made possible through the efforts of Vicsal (Vic-Sally) Foundation, Inc. and Cheryl Cortes, executive assistant of Global Solutions Inc., an affiliate of Metro Retail Stores Group of Companies.

Felix Suico, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council officer and Victor Emmanuel Cortes witnessed the turnover.

“We are thankful for the donation. It is very useful and timely,” Suico said.

At the same time, a similar donation was made to the Central Command of the Philippine Army based in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Centcom chief Ariel Potutan expressed gratitude saying this will help increase their capability.

Marcelyn Cabildo-Rubica, program officer of Vicsal Foundation Inc., said they have donated a total of 9,000 rubber boats to different local government units and offices as part of their corporate social responsibility.
