CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza submitted for the City Council’s approval the annual budget for 2015 general fund amounting to P1.44 billion.
A separate budget amounting to P14.11 million was submitted for the operations of market and slaughterhouse.
The mayor also submitted a proposed budget amounting to P62.22 million for the operations of the city-operated hospital.
The city government operates two hospitals: the city hospital in the mainland and one in Olango Island.
Radaza asked Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong and members of the City Council to fast-track the approval of the annual budget.
It was learned that the annual budget next year includes the allocation for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the different barangays of then city.
The city mayor believes there is a need to address the problem of roads, drainage improvements and other infrastructure projects.
The construction of additional classrooms is also being highlighted.
The city mayor also has proposed to allocate additional funds for the purchase of the necessary equipment needed by the disaster council.
Ycong and members of the council agreed to have a caucus next week to properly discuss the proposed annual budget submitted by the mayor.
Council members agreed to discuss further the proposed budget submitted by the mayor with the department heads.
The department heads have been tasked to prepare the budget in their respective departments. (FREEMAN)
