CEBU, Philippines – If the proposal of Talisay City Councilor Doroteo Emit will be approved by majority members of the City Council, the Kapit-bisig sa Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services will use three relocation areas for their project.
Emit, chairman of the Committee on Housing and Urban Development, wants to authorize the use of a parcel of land owned by the city government for the implementation of Kalahi-CIDSS project under the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Program in the three identified relocation sites in the city.
Kalahi-CIDSS-NCDDP mainly aims to empower communities to achieve improved access to services and to participate in more inclusive local planning, budgeting and implementation of community-based socio-economic projects.
"The city government of Talisay is one of the recipients of the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Program of the National Government," Emit said.
In the KALAHI CIDSS category under the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the three projects identified are as follows: day care center construction in Sitio Candaya, Mohon; drainage construction in Sitio Mahayag, San Isidro and construction of sanitation facility in Barangay Jaclupan.
According to Emit, the projects will benefit residents in the said relocation sites of the city.
Emit added that the identified relocation sites have available space for the implementation of the projects.
Recently, Mayor Johnny De los Reyes had entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Regional Director of DSWD Field Office-7 for the implementation of Social Protection Program, one of which is the GPBP.
