CEBU, Philippines - A man was mauled by bystanders after he was allegedly caught in the act of stealing a motorcycle in Purok 6, Barangay Cubacub, Mandaue City on Friday dawn.
Adonis Nodalo, 31, single of Sitio Tulay, Barangay Cotcot, Liloan town, sustained bruises all over his body and was first brought to the Mandaue City Hospital for medical treatment before he was detained.
Nodalo was reported caught in act of stealing a black Honda Beat motorcycle owned by Sergio Gogo, a resident of the said place.
According to Police Officer 3 Wendell Belandres, Gogo and his family were sleeping when a neighbor came to their house to inform them that the said motorcycle was supposed to be carted away by the suspect after it was taken out of their compound.
Gogo then tried to look for the key which he only placed in a table in their house but he was surprised to see that their back door was already wide open and the key was no longer there.
When he came out of their house, he already saw the bloodied suspect being held by the barangay tanods after being mauled as the key of his motorcycle was already affixed on the vehicle.
It was learned that before the incident, bystanders were already tailing the suspect because of his suspicious acts and none of them allgedly ever knew him.
The suspect is now detained at the Canduman Police station pending the filing of a carnapping case against him. (FREEMAN)
