Man heading home shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A 59-year-old man died on the spot after he was shot at close range at around 8 p.m. last Wednesday along H. Abellana Street in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.
Isidro Abella, 59, married of Barangay Can-aga, Sibonga town presently residing in the said place, died on the spot after he was shot by unidentified suspect hitting him in the back portion of his head with slug exiting through his left eye.
Based on the initial investigation conducted by the police, the victim was walking on the roadside and upon reaching his house, the unidentified suspect appeared from behind then shot him twice causing his instant death.
At the crime scene, the police were able to recover one empty shell of .45 cal. pistol and another two slugs of the same firearm.
The victim’s body was fetched by personnel of the Cebu Rolling Hills Funeral Parlor.
Police are still conducting a thorough investigation with regard to the incident because although there was a closed-circuit television camera owned by a private school near the crime scene that was able to capture parts of the incident, it was found to be blurry.
Homicide chief Police Inspector Zenaido Sanchez said although initial investigation showed that the death had something to do with family trouble, they will still have to dig deeper into the investigation to identify the culprit of the crime. (FREEMAN)
