CEBU, Philippines- A woman breastfeeding her five-month old baby was stabbed by his live-in partner reportedly because of jealousy Monday evening in Sitio Kapaping, Barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
The victim was identified as Regina Estrada, 19, temporarily residing in the same barangay, while the suspect was her lover, Jovencio Santillan, 35, of Barangay Basak who works as a tourist van driver.
Initial investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 John Carlo Jocutan of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office-Homicide Section revealed the victim was breastfeeding her baby inside a small house in their chicken farm when Santillan arrived.
A verbal disagreement sparked between them which made the apparently annoyed Santillan stab his young lover with the use of a sharp scissors.
Santillan fled from the scene, leaving Estrada wounded on the left side of her body.
Estrada was able to go to the barangay hall and sought help.
She was immediately rushed to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center by the responding Emergency and Rescue Unit Foundation.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted by the Crime Against Persons Desk of LCPO Station 4 for possible arrest of the suspect.
