CEBU, Philippines- Massive rehabilitation of distribution pipes will be implemented in Danao City following the insufficiency of water supply experienced in two of its barangays.
The Danao City government allocated P43 million for the Phase 1 implementation of the rehabilitation of distribution pipes for Barangay Suba and Poblacion.
The Cebu provincial government also assured its support to the city government with the allocation of P11 million for the project's second phase.
Danao City Mayor Ramon "Nito" Durano III, Vice Mayor Ramon "Red" Durano VI and members of the City Council cited the importance of good water supply not only for the residents in the city but also for the big business and industrial establishments.
Danao City officials said the waterworks office always receives complaints about low water supply or no supply in their respective household connections, a problem attributed to many factors such as old and corrosive pipes, illegal tapping done by some consumers, leakage, low water pressure, sea water intrusion, inappropriate location of water meters, cross pipes, complicated pipe connections, and many other factors.
Therefore, there is a need to give attention on how to solve problem on water supply, city officials said.
They stressed that the only solution to the problem is the immediate rehabilitation of its distribution pipes.
Aside from the rehabilitating the pipes, officials also said they will work on improving the water source which is in Barangay Tabok.
