Woman nabbed for drugs

CEBU, Philippines - A 56-year-old woman was arrested after a search warrant for illegal drugs was served on her early morning Thursday in her residence in Sitio Fatima, Barangay Lower Jagobiao, Mandaue City.

Armed with the warrant signed by Judge Teresita  Abarquez-Galanida of Regional Trial Court-7 Branch 56, operatives of the Basak Police Station led by Police Senior Inspector Genilo Veraque, elements of Special Weapons and Tactics and the city mobile group served the search warrant on Baby Bacolod, 56, a widower.

During the raid, police were able to seize one medium pack and another small pack of white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, drug paraphernalia and P270 cash believed to be proceeds of her illegal drug trade.

Police immediately brought the suspect to the police station and during interrogation, she told police that her source of illegal drugs came from Consolacion town. However, the police said during monitoring, the illegal drugs have been delivered to her residence.

The suspect also vehemently denied owning the medium pack of shabu and was surprised why it was included in the inventory of evidence.

It was also learned that two years ago, the suspect was arrested for an illegal drug case but the same was dismissed. The suspect is now detained at the Basak Police Station pending the filing of appropriate charge against her.  (FREEMAN)
