CEBU, Philippines - A 63-year-old taxi driver lost his daily earnings after he was robbed by an unknown suspect Monday evening in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Benjamin Mariveles, 63, separated, a resident of Nivel Hills, Lahug, Cebu City and a taxi driver of M & J Taxi unit with plate number 7CE 1143 sought assistance from Subangdaku Police Station after he was allegedly robbed by his passenger at around 1:40 a.m.
According to Mariveles, the suspect boarded his taxi near Urban Homes in Barangay Tipolo and was told by the suspect to bring him to Cebu City.
However, when they reached a dark portion of Larrazal Street in Barangay Subangdaku, the suspect armed with a .45 cal. pistol pointed his gun on his neck and announced the hold up.
The suspect said he panicked and immediately gave his earnings amounting to P3,060 while the suspect immediately disembarked from the taxi and walked towards a bushy site of the reclamation area.
Mariveles immediately maneuvered his taxi towards the nearby Subangdaku Police Station.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted but the police failed to arrest the suspect. — (FREEMAN)
