CEBU, Philippines - Some 16 field training police personnel have been assigned at the Talisay City Police Office for Public Safety Field Training Program after they took their oath of office as new members of the Philippine National Police with the rank of Police Officer 1 in temporary status.
Talisay City police chief Superintendent Reycel Carmelo Dayon said the deployment of the police trainees is a practice to put to good use all the knowledge they gained from their six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit training.
Dayon, in a courtesy call to Mayor Johnny De los Reyes, said the trainees will be assigned in patrol, investigation and traffic for six months.
De los Reyes said he was happy with the assignment of the 16 FTPs saying that the city has only 78 policemen, seen insufficient to secure the total population of more than 200,000.
De los Reyes said the 16 FTPs will be of great help in ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the city.
Meanwhile, the police said it won't tolerate any serious offense committed by rookie cops.
New cops will face summary dismissal from service once they are found to be involved in any crime.
Based on the police recruitment protocol, the new PO1s will undergo a six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Regional Training School.
After completing the basic course, they will be assigned to police stations across the region for another mandatory six-month field training exercises before they are finally deployed to their permanent assignments.
As PO1s, the new recruits will receive a basic salary of P14,834 or a gross pay of P20,404 inclusive of allowances. (FREEMAN)
