CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City government intends to tie up with a Cebu City-based university in its goal to spur more environmental awareness among locals.
In particular, the city eyes to partner with the University of Cebu-Maritime Education Training Center on mapping out plans and implementing environmental awareness campaigns.
City Councilor Antonio Bacaltos Jr., who is the chairman of the committee on Environmental Protection, Wildlife Ecology and Natural Resources Management, said the partnership will emphasize skills and livelihood trainings, education and relevant orientation, environmental protection and preservation and the development of culture of peace.
In a proposed Resolution No. 2014- 24 - 2, Bacaltos is requesting Mayor Johnny De los Reyes to enter into memorandum of agreement with UC for a two-year partnership for community extension services.
"The UC-METC has been promoting partnerships, among others, with government and non-government organizations as part of its social and environmental responsibilities. The City of Talisay has been the recipient of certain extension services of the University of Cebu - METC," Bacaltos said. (FREEMAN)
