Mandaue logs 22 dengue cases, 1 death

CEBU, Philippines - Within the first four months this year, Mandaue City recorded one death out of 22 cases of dengue, but the City Health Department will not stop in their intensified campaign to educate the residents in the 27 barangays of the city.

Mandaue City Health Officer Dr. Edna Seno said that health personnel were deployed to the different barangays to coordinate with barangay officials in educating the residents.

Seno said barangay officials played an important role in the fight against dengue saying they are the frontline and had direct contact with the people.

She also urges barangay captains to help the campaign through proper collection of garbage and clean-up their environment.

The residents in the different barangays of Mandaue also taught on how to segregate their garbage properly and to ride their surroundings of stagnant water.

The Mandaue City Health Department also asked residents to practice  four o clock habit by cleaning their surroundings.

Different non-governmental organizations. civic clubs in Mandaue City also help the city government in the fight against dengue.

Earlier, Mayor Jonas Cortes said that the success of the plans and program of the city government will also depend the support and cooperation from the private sector. — (FREEMAN)
