CEBU, Philippines - The fight against human trafficking of International Justice Mission-Philippines has gained the support by the city officials of Mandaue.
Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede and members of the city council echoed their support citing the success of the campaign initiated by International Justice Mission-Philippines in Cebu.
The Mandaue City Council in last Wednesday's regular session has passed a resolution lauded International Justice Mission-Philippines through its Director Andrey Sawchenko for their magnificient and unsurpassed all out efforts to curtail human trafficking.
The resolution sponsored by Mandaue City Councilor Diosdado P. Suico has the support by all members of the city council.
Councilor Suico said that despite of their efforts, one of the lingering social problems today is the continued proliferation of human trafficking which now victimizes the children even those who have not reached the age of adolescene.
With the help of International Justice Mission-Philippines different activities were initiated in Mandaue City.
The establishment of Barangay Anti-Trafficking Task Force in Mandaue City also a big success in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Association of Barangay Councils and the different non-governmental organizations and people's organization.
The Mandaue City Council has passed Anti-Trafficking Ordinance where massive seminar should be conducted to the 27 barangays in the city. — (FREEMAN)
