CEBU, Philippines - The implementation of the concreting projects on national roads by the Department of Public Works and Highways regional office is closely monitored by the Mandaue City officials.
The move is in response to the number of complaints raised by concerned residents in Mandaue City and those residing in northern Cebu passing Mandaue City roads.
Mandaue City Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede said they already called the attention of the Department of Public Works and Highways regarding these concerns.
Officials of the DPWH in Cebu’s sixth district assured city officials of Mandaue that they already advised the contractors to fast-track the implementation of the road concreting projects.
Aside from the concreting projects, the improvement of drainage in selected national roads in Mandaue City is reportedly also given priority by DPWH.
The ongoing concreting projects include those on Andres Soriano Avenue at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Centro, A.C. Cortes Avenue, A.S. Fortuna Street, M.L. Quezon Avenue and the road leading to Cebu North Coastal Road in Barangay Paknaan.
The Mandaue City Engineering Office has been tasked by the City Council to closely monitor those nationally-funded projects.
Earlier, Mayor Jonas Cortes said the people of Mandaue should understand the situation, adding that the completion of the projects will benefit the city’s development. (FREEMAN)
