CEBU, Philippines - An argument over "capability of killing snakes" triggered the death of a person with disability after he was hacked and beheaded by his two neighbors in a drinking spree in Sitio Kalubihan, Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City Monday evening.
Florencio Lobo, 54, a resident of Sitio Kalubihan, sustained hacked wounds on the different parts of his body and was beheaded by suspects identified as Russel Colacado, 40, and his half brother Alfredo Nadela, 34, both residents of the same place.
Suspects still remain at large.
Initial investigation conducted by homicide police disclosed that at around 9:15 p.m. last Monday, the victim and the suspects were drinking coconut wine, locally known as tuba, at the store owned by one of the suspects named Russel Colacado.
At the height of their drinking session, the victim allegedly told the suspects he was the one responsible for the series of killing of snakes in their place.
However, Colacado reportedly questioned Lobo's capability of killing snakes because, according to him, he had a missing limb.
Unable to control his anger, Colacado allegedly took a bolo and attacked the victim and beheaded him.
The victim's wife, Apolinaria, was reported to have tried to rescue her husband Florencio, but one of the suspects, Alfredo, allegedly prevented her.
The suspects fled to Cordova after the incident.
Responding policemen picked up for questioning the brother of Nadela for investigation.
Lapu-Lapu police are still conducting further investigation of the incident. — (FREEMAN)
