CEBU, Philippines - Because the old market building has yet to be renovated, Cebu Technological University in the City of Naga will temporarily hold classes in makeshift tents at the city's gymnasium once the school year starts this June.
CTU will hold its first classes in its campus in Naga in June with eight classes for various disciplines -- including Education and other technological courses -- being offered.
"For the moment, while ayuhon pa ang old market, collapsible tents will be erected at the sides of the Enan Chiong Activity Center to serve as classrooms. But this is only temporary pending the repair of the old market building," said Garry Cabotaje, the designated public information officer of Naga.
Meanwhile, Cabotaje said repairs will start after all vendors have been moved to the new market. The new market, whose first phase has been recently completed, will open soon, he said.
Because of the city's rapid growth, Mayor Valdemar Chiong decided to have the modern market building constructed at the city's reclamation project. The first phase costs the city P38 million while the second phase, P40 million.
Although the finishing touches, as well as the second phase, will have to be started yet, Cabotaje said the new market is ready for the occupants' transfer. (FREEMAN)
