CEBU, Philippines - His alleged involvement in illegal drugs is linked to the stabbing of a 27-year-old man Thursday evening in Sitio Lasang, Barangay Dapdap, Lapu-Lapu City.
A certain Golliat Tradio was riding a "trisikad" with his live-in partner Jean Mangubat around 10:30 in the evening when some Stephen Cantotay, 23, married and jobless resident of the place, allegedly stabbed Tradio without apparent reason.
Tradio sustained a wound on his chest from a yet unidentified bladed weapon, causing his death.
According to Mangubat's account, she and Tradio were on board the trisikad on their way home and upon reaching a dark portion of the road, the suspect suddenly carried out the crime.
Despite having suffered a fatal wound, Tradio was still able to tell his partner to run away and proceed to their house.
A frightened Mangubat was able to flee from the crime scene. While running away, Mangubat reportedly heard her partner shout the name of the suspect.
A certain Kenneth then informed Mangubat that Tradio eventually succumbed to the deadly stab wound.
Police Officer 2 Eric Fonda, together with PO2 Jovil Tevana and PO1 Aaron Rubin, conducted a hot pursuit operation to arrest the suspect but failed.
The suspect remains at large while authorities vowed to hold a follow up investigation. The body of Tradio will be subjected to an autopsy. (FREEMAN)
