Midnight shooting kills man in Pahina

CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old man died after being shot by an unidentified person allegedly on board a motorcycle at Panganiban Street, Barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City past midnight yesterday.

Daniel Juanillo, resident of  Barangay Ermita in Cebu City and a native of  Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, was found lifeless by the police along the road near the residence of his friend, Jericho Rusia.

Senior Police Officer 4 Alex Dacua, investigator on the case, said nearby residents reportedly heard some two to three gunfire shots and then heard a motorcycle engine hurriedly pass by.

Later on, they found the victim, believed to be walking alone, lying on his back and allegedly being gunned down by an unknown assailant.

Juanillo suffered two gunshot wounds on the back of his head and the back of his body.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells, apparently, of  a .45 caliber.

Dacua said they are still investigating on the identity and motive of  the person responsible for the death of Juanillo. He added they are also checking as to how many were the perpetrators.

He also said they could not yet confirm reports saying the victim is an alleged drug pusher or that he was killed due to relationship issues.

He said they have received reports that Juanillo has a girlfriend and a child, but also is allegedly involved in a relationship with somebody from the third sex.

The body of the victim was taken to Saint Francis Funeral Homes. — (FREEMAN)
