CEBU, Philippines - Joint operatives of the Basak Police station and the Investigation and Detective Management Bureau of the Mandaue City Police Office on Monday were able to recover pure thin gold bar, gold sheet, silver grains and cash from the house of a production worker who stole the valuables from the company he worked for.
The said valuables were recovered from the house of the suspect identified as Venny Dagooc, of legal age and a resident of Barangay Tabok, Mandaue City.
It was learned from Basak Police Station Chief Police Senior Inspector Genilo Veraque that the suspect was the last person inside the Fashion Accessories 4 U Corporation shop located in Barangay Tabok that day.
However on a Tuesday morning, the operations manager of the said company, Michelle Piwan, was shocked when she opened the steel cabinet and the valuables and cash amounting to P46,000 were no longer there.
This prompted the company to call for police help. Upon checking, the police found out that there was no sign of forced entry into the said office.
They later knew that the suspect was the last person to go out from the company's premises and was able to steal the said items after he found some bunch of keys in an unlocked drawer of the steel cabinet.
After he succeeded in carting the said valuables and cash, he left the building by using the exit door at the back.
He even reported for duty the following day and when he knew that an investigation was conducted over the lost items he reportedly left the factory.
During a follow-up, the police went to the suspect’s house and was able to bluff the wife of the suspect to just return the valuables being taken by his husband so that, no charges will be filed against the latter.
The wife Rosmelyn Dagooc was then able to contact the suspect who admitted that he was the one who stole the said valuables. The items were hidden under a hole which he made beside their house.
Veraque said Piwan called him up to inform him they have received information that the suspect is currently with his uncle in Taguig City in Metro Manila. (FREEMAN)
