CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes recommended before Cebu Provincial Police Office and Police Regional Office at least two names of police officials to replace city police officer-in-charge Supt. Resty Santos.
De los Reyes named Chief Insp. Jovito Canlapan and Supt. Timmar Alam.
De los Reyes was not pleased with Santos' performance after the National Bureau of Investigation alleged that they could not arrest big-time drug pushers in the city when they coordinate with the local police in their operations.
Last month, NBI's operation without any coordination with Talisay City Police proved successful.
De los Reyes said that right after the issue hit the media, he called Santos and the latter explained. Santos allegedly promised the mayor that he will arrest three personalities involved in illegal drugs for a week.
"Ako siyang gihuwat kun matinuod ba ang iyang saad apan wa may nakita nakong kalambuan ug misamot naman hinuon akong nadawat nga report nga nagkadaghan ang drugas, lakip na ang karera," De los Reyes said.
De los Reyes is hopeful that the higher headquarters of the Philippine National Police would respect his decision and grant the same to him. (FREEMAN)
