CEBU, Philippines - Believing the bones belong to his missing daughter, the father of a 6-year-old girl claimed that the skeleton that was found in a grassy area in Sitio Bakilid, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City yesterday morning.
Homicide investigator SPO1 Ruth Bongo-Violango said that a group of youngsters found the skeleton in a grassy portion of Sitio Bakilid while they were playing around the area.
Roque Medalla, claimed that the skeleton belonged to her daughter Mariflor Medalla, who was last seen on October 6, 2013.
Violango said that they will request the PNP Crime Laboratory -7 for possible examinations to determine whether the skeleton is that of a boy or a girl. She said only the skull and two ribs were found scattered around the area.
But by just looking at the slippers and the garments that went with the skeleton, Medalla strongly felt they matched with what the child was wearing when she went missing.
Medalla told Violango that the child was with him in their house playing but she went outside.
Later on, witnesses told Medalla that his daughter was accompanied by a certain Allan Gimonggala.
According to the accounts of witnesses, the child would often say she wanted to go with her "yoyo" (uncle Allan) because he had plenty of food.
Violango told reporters that Medalla went to Punta Police Station to report the incident.
Violango added that a kidnapping case was filed against Gimonggala when he also disappeared after the October 6, 2013 incident, although Violango said she will verify reports that the suspect is still missing. — (FREEMAN)
