Man who tries to pacify heated argument hacked instead

CEBU, Philippines - A 74-year-old man was brought to the hospital after he was hacked by a neighbor who was into a verbal tussle with his daughter Thursday evening in Zone Gabi in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

Jovin Entica, a resident of the said place, was brought to the Mandaue City Hospital after sustaining a hack wound on his right arm following his attempt to pacify a heated argument between his daughter and a neighbor at around 9 p.m.

PO2 Heracleo Gamboa, an investigator at the Basak Police Station, said the victim's daughter Janet Villoria, 46, was the one who called up the police when she saw her father bloodied after being hacked by suspect Ruther Garciano.

It was learned that Villoria and Garciano got into a heated fight after the suspect got irked that his cassava plant were being cut down.

Report said that in the midst of their argument, the suspect went home but came back minutes after, bringing along with him a .38 caliber revolver and a bolo and then pointed both weapons at Villoria.

The suspect reportedly fired once and luckily no one was hurt.

Upon seeing her daughter in trouble, Entica tried to pacify the two but was instead hacked by the suspect in the right arm.

Concerned neighbors rushed Entica to the hospital while the suspect also surrendered himself to his neighbor PO2 Johnrey Garicade of the Investigative and Detective Management Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office.

The suspect also surrendered his .38.with five live ammunitions and one empty shell to Garicade.

A frustrated homicide case is now being prepared against the suspect who is currently detained at the Basak Police Station. (FREEMAN)
