Sixth most wanted falls

CEBU, Philippines - Mandaue City's sixth most wanted man finally fell into the hands of the police after being arrested last last week in Barangay Gudalupe, Cebu City for charges of child abuse and rape.

Elde Jose Alburo a.k.a "Titing," 27, single of Barangay Sapangdaku, Cebu City  was served with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Ulric Canter of the RTC Branch 55 of Mandaue City for a crime of robbery with homicide.

The said warrant of arrest was served against Alburo inside a detention cell of the Guadalupe Police Station after he was also arrested February 15 when he allegedly mauled the 10-year-old daughter of his live-in partner.

Police also learned that the suspect also had a pending warrant of arrest for raping the same girl in December last year.

SPO2 Marcos Noval of the Investigative and Detective Management Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office said that the suspect went into hiding for five years now after he robbed and killed Maria Joecelin Mendoza, a store owner, on January 4, 2009.

Noval said that the suspect is now committed at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center for his child abuse case.

"Bisan pa'g  makagawas siya kay makapiyansa siya sa iyang child abuse nga kaso , kay na-serve pud ni  sa iya ang iyang warrant of arrest para niining robbery with homicide, di lang gihapon siya makagawas sa BBRC gumikan niini kay non-bailable man ni nga kaso," Noval said.

Jobless man shot

In Talisay City, a 47-year-old man died after he was shot by unidentified suspect who was boarding a motorcycle Wednesday evening in Sitio Kimba, Barangay Cansojong.

The victim, identified as Narciso Valdez Echavez, single, jobless and resident of Barangay San Isidro, same city, sustained gunshot wounds on his chest and abdomen and died while being rushed to Talisay City District Hospital.

SPO1 Mikie Espina, SPO1 Yvonne Illustrisimo and PO1 Stephen Sefuesca responded to the incident.

Police investigation revealed before the incident took place, the victim was boarding a traysikad on his way to Barangay Tanke when unidentified man on a motorcycle emerged and, without any reason, shot the him.

Espina told The FREEMAN yesterday that they are conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the motive of the incident and to also conduct background check on the victim.

Arrested for shabu

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old traysikad driver was arrested after the police confiscated from his possession seven triangular sachets of shabu during a patrol yesterday morning in Sitio Tunga, Barangay Tanke, Talisay City.

The suspect, Arnel Mabala Borja. resident of the place. was arrested by the group of Insp. Rogene Fudotan.

PO2 Esmer Gahi told The FREEMAN yesterday that Fudotan received report regarding the illegal activities at the place. He said that they immediately conducted aggressive patrolling after receiving the report.

According to Gahi, they saw Borja at the side of the street possessing a small blue plastic medicine container.

The suspect immediately walked towards the interior part of the place after noticing the police, but the latter called the attention of Borja and requested the container to be opened.

When it was found out that illegal drugs were in the container, the police brought Borja to Talisay City Police Station.

The police is scheduled to file a case of possession of prohibited drugs against Borja today (Friday) before the city prosecutors office.

Borja denied the allegation against him when interviewed by this paper. — with Brenda D. Batuto of Banat News
