Pharmacy staff stabbed to death

CEBU, Philippines - Following a heated argument, a delivery boy stabbed a 33-year-old pharmacy stock in-charge yesterday morning in Sitio Carbarex, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City.

Suspect Joseph Brian Cabase, 18, wounded Fritz Arances who was rushed to Adventist Hospital but pronounced dead few moments later.

Beverly Balindez, 17, suspect's girlfriend and victim's cousin, said that Cabase and Arances were having a fistfight before the said incident.

She alleged that the suspect left after the said fistfight while the victim washed himself in the toilet outside their house. However, Cabase came back armed with a knife and stabbed the victim.

Balindez also said that her cousin is not happy whenever her boyfriend comes and directly enters their house.

SPO1 Jay Ramos, SWAT personnel, managed to arrest the suspect who tried to escape after the incident.

A kitchen knife measuring about 13 inches long was recovered from the suspect.

Meanwhile, an alleged drug user Kevin Macaraya, 19, stabbed her aunt Saturnina Buchan, 40, a supermarket staff, last Sunday morning at Ocampo Drive Extension, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

The victim said that she was cooking rice outside their house when her nephew came from behind and suddenly stabbed her with a knife without any reason.

Buchan, who was hit on her back, was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital while suspect ran away.

SPO1 Joel Lacson of Pardo Police Station 7 and Barangay watchman Juvy Saavedra immediately chased the suspect.

In another incident, a certain Arnel Alcantara, 26, trisikad driver, was stabbed by Arman Paradero, 32, a painter, last Sunday midnight at Sitio Laguna, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City.

The victim alleged that Paradero, who was drunk, suddenly appeared from behind while he was enjoying a toss coin gambling game locally known as "hantak," and stabbed him twice with a knife without any apparent reason.   (FREEMAN)
