Radaza assures aid for small fishermen in Lapu

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Lapu-Lapu City government will continue helping small fishermen from islet-barangays whose livelihoods were affected because of bad weather last month.

City Mayor Paz Radaza said she directed the City Social Welfare Office (CSWO) to closely coordinate with the barangay captains and officials of the affected barangays in an attempt to help concerned constituents.

Small fishermen from Caubian Island and islet barangays of Pangan-an and Caohagan have complained recently that because of bad weather, most of them have failed to go fishing.

Barangay captains of the affected barangays then informed Radaza of the problem.

According to Radaza, the CSWO last week provided the affected residents with food to eat for the meantime.

"Ang mahimo nato mao lang gayud ang paghatag kanila ug pagkaon samtang dili pa sila makabalik sa pagpanagat," said Radaza.  (FREEMAN)
