Former traffic enforcer faces estafa case

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  The police are looking for a former traffic enforcer of the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) who allegedly extorted money from a motorist Monday afternoon in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City by passing himself off as a legitimate enforcer.

Rodrigo Barte told police he gave P300 to an alleged enforcer to prevent his vehicle from being towed for breaking down in the middle of the street in Jagobiao.

Barte said the alleged enforcer originally asked for P1,000.

Since he only had P300 in his wallet, Sanchez settled for the amount.

But Barte was not convinced the man was a real traffic enforcer.

TEAM told him the alleged enforcer was Nicasio Sanchez Jr., a resident of Calabuan, Consolacion town who was no longer connected with the office.

An estafa case is being readied against Sanchez.  (FREEMAN)
