Councilor shows concern for roads

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Mandaue City councilor’s proposal to limit the load on trucks that transport quarry materials has been approved on first reading by the city council.

Councilor Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon said she has come up with the proposal in order to protect the city’s roads.

The resolution is intended to aid in designing a simplified system to legally control the use of city and barangay roads, she said.

The City Environment and Natural Resources officer will be tasked to arrest and impose fines on violators.

Violators will be fined P2,500 or will be locked up for six months with the cancellation of the offender’s transport permit and other permits issued by the city government.

The offender may opt to pay the administrative fine of P10,000 per truck.  (FREEMAN)
