Detainee “hangs” self
CEBU, Philippines - A detainee allegedly hanged himself yesterday dawn inside the detention cell of the Punta Princesa Police Station in barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City.
SPO2 Jaime del Mar found Tomas Llido, 57, of South Hills Drive, barangay Tisa, Cebu City on his knees with a cord around his neck at around 1:45 a.m.
The other end of the cord was tied to a piece of iron protruding from the wall.
Llido was earlier arrested and detained at the police station last January 2 for a pending rape case.
He was with four other detainees who were asleep at the time of the alleged suicide.
Paramedics of the Alert City Disaster Council came but were unable to revive Llido.
The Crime Scene Investigation Unit (CSIU) found no external injuries on the man’s body that may suggest foul play.
However, Police Chief Inspector Noli Cernio of the CSIU and Homicide Section said the police will still have to verify whether the man committed suicide.
His remains were taken to the St. Francis Funeral Homes for an autopsy. (FREEMAN)
