Lapu-Lapu village chief airs plaints

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - In Lapu-Lapu City, barangay Pajo captain Junard “Ahong” Chan is complaining.

He said he has to start from scratch because the village coffers were empty when he took over last December 1.

Chan claims the previous administration used up funds without proper accounting.

And with no money, there will be no garbage men, for instance, and garbage collection suffers, he said.

“Daghan kaayo kita og mga plano sa atong barangay, apan gumikan sa problema sa budget dili gayud kita makapatuman,” Chan said.

Funds were realigned and he can’t tell where the money went, he said.

“Daghan pa kaayo og mga transaction ang barangay nga wala pa gayud nato maklaro asa padulong ang kwarta nga gigamit,” Chan said.

However, he assures residents that he would set things in motion once the barangay saves enough money.  (FREEMAN)
