CEBU, Philippines - Two New Mandaue City Public Market vendors who sustained injuries as the magnitude 7.2 earthquake shook Cebu last Oct. 15 received an additional P20,000 each from the city government.
Both women were earlier given P5,000 by the city government but the victims’ families sought more assistance after medical records showed they suffer sustained serious injuries and medical bills have piled up.
The city council approved Wednesday a measure proposed by Councilor Jimmy Lumapas that seeks to extend P25,000 to Julieta Perez and Azucena Comaingking.
Earlier, Lumpas sponsored an ordinance which granted P5,000 in financial assistance to those injured during the earthquake while one fatality received P50,000 in financial assistance. — (FREEMAN)
