CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City council is asking for 25 wheelchairs from the provincial government for differently-abled constituents.
Councilor Richard Francis F. Aznar, chairman of the Committee on Health and Sanitation, said recipients will include aged individuals who could no longer walk, paraplegics or those who had been unable to walk since birth, and seriously ill and needs to be wheeled for mobility.
“Under present statistics, the increasing number of differently-abled constituents of the city demands for an increase in the facilities and devices to better suit their needs,†Aznar said.
Aznar said the local government units in coordination with the Department of Health and Department of Social Welfare make sure that the needs of the marginalized disabled are met especially in the acquisition of devices such as wheelchairs. – (FREEMAN)
