One killed, two hurt in Consolacion shooting

CEBU, Philippines - One died and two others were injured in a shooting incident that took place along the national highway of barangay Pitogo, Consolacion town yesterday dawn.

Chris Almaden, 22, of Juan M. Ceniza St., Barangay Looc, Mandaue City, succumbed to a gunshot wound on the chest.

He was declared dead at the Eversley Child Sanitarium Hospital by attending physician Dr. Cyrus Wendell Romuga.

Almaden’s companions who were injured were Cenaro Pepito, 30, of  Barangay Tayud, Consolacion town.

He was hit on the right arm while Lionel Ilendrino, 25, of Barangay Catarman, Lilo-an, was injured in the back.

Both were taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

Insp. Franco Rudolf  Oriol said the victims were having fun at the videoke house owned by a Joyvelyn Mata when unidentified armed men on a motorcycle suddenly arrived and opened fire.

Victims were hit in different parts of their body.

The assailants were reportedly just wearing loose white T-shirts and baseball caps.

The scene of the crime is alleged to be where members of the Bloods gang usually hang out.

Police theorize the attackers belonged to a rival gang. — (FREEMAN)
