CEBU, Philippines - Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong yesterday said the city will hold a simple Christmas party for its employees even if some other local governments such as Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu cities are to cancel their parties and use the budget for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
Chiong said there is no reason to cancel the party since he wants the employees to celebrate the annual occasion in their own simple way.
Chiong said the city government has allotted P1.2 million chargeable against the calamity funds to provide 500 packs per LGU or a total of more than 7,000 packs. Each pack contains two kilos of rice, four pouches containing noodles, three canned sardines, and two bottles of water.
"Wala'y rason nga among i-cancel among Christmas party para sa mga empleyado. Dili man sab siguro ngil-ad kay we have extended our hand to other LGUs affected by natural calamities even those outside Cebu," Chiong said. (FREEMAN)
