CEBU, Philippines - The days of the syndicate that builds houses on government lots and who rents these out to workers employed at the Mactan Export Processing Zone are numbered, according to Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza.
Radaza said the City Urban Poor Office is conducting an inventory of informal settlers occupying government-owned lots.
Most of these informal settlers who build houses are professional squatters and have failed to secure the necessary permits from the city government, Radaza said.
Most of the professional squatters reside in Mandaue and Cebu cities. (FREEMAN)
