CEBU, Philippines - A lawyer, her sister, and residents in Consolacion town recently distributed relief goods in typhoon-battered Borbon town and Bogo City.
Lawyer Chevrolie Maglasang Isoto and her sister Edlee Maglasang Labador contacted friends in Consolacion and other places and discussed about distributing relief goods.
The Maglasang family comes from Borbon town.
The late Rosendo Maglasang, the grandfather of Chevrolie and Edlee, was from Borbon before moving to Consolacion town and putting up a business there.
With the positive response from their friends and residents in the town, the sisters organized a team and visited Barangay San Jose in Borbon town where they distributed packs of goodies.
They also visited some barangays in Bogo City.
“Nakita nato nga daghan sa atong mga kaigsoonan sa Northern Cebu and nabiktima sa bagyo mao nga kita naningkamot usab nga makahatag kanila ug hinabang bisan ginagmay apan makahatag ug kalipay sa atong mga kaigsoonan nga biktima sa bagyo,†said Isoto.
After the distribution of goods in Northern Cebu, Isoto and her group distributed free food to typhoon victims from Tacloban City who evacuated to a house in barangay San Roque in Cebu City.
The group also assisted in repacking relief goods at the Cebu International Convention Center in Mandaue City.
Borbon town Mayor Bernanrd “Butch†Sepulveda who was informed of the relief goods distribution in Barangay San Jose by the group of Isoto expressed thanks in behalf of the people of Borbon.
“Magpasalamat kita sa tanang mga mitabang sa atong mga kaigsoonan sa Borbon nga biktima sa bagyo ilabi na gayud usab sa grupo sa Consolacion nila ni Isoto,†Sepulveda said. (FREEMAN)
