CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Fire Department has proposed to instruct City Hall employees on the subjects of earthquakes and typhoons.
Talisay City Fire Department chief Senior Inspector Randy Mendaros told The Freeman he is still waiting for the city government to say when the instruction will start.
He said City Hall will choose at least an employee from every department.
Instruction will include first aid and rescue techniques.
Those who have received instruction will in turn teach fellow employees who did not join the training.
The fire department also has requested the city government for some tools such as ropes that will be used during the training.
The ropes will used to tie a person to be rescued from a high building.
Mendaros said the fire department also conduct earthquake and fire drill in schools and private establishments in the city.
Private establishments that have 50 employees or more are required to have their own rescue teams and equipment. (FREEMAN)
