Lapu-Lapu’s first museum opens

Jose P. Sollano - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The first museum in Lapu-Lapu City formally opened to the public last November 14, to coincide with the 81st  birthday of the late Police General Eleno V. Amores.

Mayor Paz Radaza led the formal inauguration of the building that houses the first museum.

She was assisted by Mrs. Naty Amores, wife of Police General Amores.

City officials and relatives of Amores attended the affair.

The family of the late General Amores, led by the general’s wife Donatilla “Naty” H. Amores, assisted in putting up old pictures and other memorabilia, artifacts, documents, and other related things.

Damian Gomez Jr., former city councilor and chairman of the City Tourism Commission, said the museum is located beside the city fire department in barangay Gun-ob.

Gomez said the Amores family paid for the construction of the building.  (FREEMAN)
