CEBU, Philippines - Typhoon Yolanda neither caused death nor injury in Naga City when it made landfall in Cebu but it damaged property and infrastructure, and cut off power in some areas.
Records of the city’s social welfare show the typhoon affected 1,300 families or 5,000 people that sought refuge in 45 evacuation centers.
Strong winds uprooted at least 60 trees, including two 14-year-old Acacia trees at the old public plaza.
The huge trees were planted during the first term of the late Naga mayor Ferdinand M. Chiong.
Sixty houses and infrastructures were damaged.
Residents returned to their homes yesterday.
The city council is expected to declare the entire city under a state of calamity. (FREEMAN)
