CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City Engineer Audie Bacasmas has assured that the city hall building is structurally sound despite the October 15 earthquake which shook Bohol and Cebu.
Worried about the condition of the building, city engineers checked for cracks and other signs of weakness while city hall employees pitched tents in the grounds which served as their offices.
But last Thursday, employees went back to their offices inside the building.
“Ang atoang whole building is structurally sound and safe except for minor cracks on walls,†Bacasmas said.
He said the main structure of the building including the columns, posts, and beams show no damage.
He also said the city hall building was designed to tolerate a magnitude 8 earthquake.
Its construction was started in 2002 and was occupied in 2004. — (FREEMAN)
