Bohol receives help from Naga
CEBU, Philippines - More than 500 families in quake-hit Loon town, Bohol, received relief goods from the City of Naga officials and some private individuals.
“Our group was in Bohol last Friday and my father’s fellow tennis players, including Mayor Val (Chiong), were encouraged to also do the same. Last Saturday night, at least 40 sacks of rice were immediately pledged,†said Councilor Nicky Señor of the City of Naga, referring to his group, the Knight-Stewards of the Sea, Inc, (Seaknights), which was earlier in Loon (Friday) and in Danao, Bohol last Sunday.
Aboard two pump boats, Señor and North Poblacion barangay captain Rey Manabat together with some people of Naga went to Loon, Bohol to personally distribute 3,000 bottled water, and more than 500 bags with rice, noodles, and canned goods were handed to the affected families of Loon.
Loon was among the towns in Bohol badly affected by last Oct. 15 earthquake.
Most of the residents, who are now staying in makeshift tents after their houses were destroyed by the 7.2 magnitude quake, are relying on relief aid.
The help was apart from the P1 million that the city’s financial aid to Bohol. (FREEMAN)
