Subangdaku protecting its economy

CEBU, Philippines - Barangay Subangdaku in Mandaue City helps fight criminality to protect its economy.

“We need to help fight criminality in our barangay in order to maintain peace and order and remain business-friendly,” barangay captain Ernie Manatad said.

Manatad, who’s serving his first term in Subangdaku, built an Integrated Security which comprises of police, barangay tanods, Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN), and guardians to fight criminality in the 33 sitios.

There were also 400 street lights placed in electric posts in different interior sitios.

Force multipliers said Manatad is needed in the barangay to fight criminality and has invited some habal-habal drivers to join the BIN.

With the force multipliers help, Manatad said that criminality in his barangay is pre-empted. Most of the force multipliers are volunteers.

“Nindot kaayo nga daghan ang force multipliers kay daghan pud kaayo mubalita especially like drug peddling ug lungkab. Kay inig human ug suyop manglungkab mani kay asa man sila e-finance sa ilang bisyo,” he said.

The ‘Palarong Pambarangay’ sports fest of barangay Subangdaku is a year round activity of basketball, volleyball, boxing, chess, and dama.

Aside from fighting criminality, the barangay continues its clean up drive, especially in Mahiga Creek.
