CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay City Council commended the city police for the arrest of a robbery suspect and alleged gun-for-hire who shot PO3 Arnold Damasco last year.
The city council approved the resolution of Councilor Danny Caballero, chairman of the committee of peace and order, which commends the city police under the leadership of Superintendent Resty Santos for the arrest of Joshua Tabera.
Tabera is a resident of barangay Lawaan III, Talisay and arrested last August 24 at his residence.
Tabera and two companions were suspects in the shooting PO3 Damasco last year. Damasco survived after getting medical attention.
Tabera’s group was also allegedly responsible for the killing of the nephew of Senior Superintendent Audie Villacin.
“It is hereby declared to be policy of the state to promote peace and order, ensure public safety and further strengthen local government capability aimed towards the effective delivery of the basic services to the citizenry through the establishment of a highly efficient and competent police force that is national in scope and civilian in character administered and controlled by a national police commission.†read the resolution.
