One more taxi driver robbed

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver abandoned his car when his passengers, a woman and two men, declared a holdup yesterday dawn while they were in the neighborhood of the Maguikay flyover in Mandaue City.

Jovanie Mahipos, 32, married, a native of Sibonga town, told the police in barangay Subangdaku that at around 3:30 a.m., his passengers hopped into his cab near a fast food outlet at the Reclamation Area and was told to proceed to Consolacion town.

Mahipos began to sense he was to be robbed when one of the passengers told him to take them back to the Reclamation Area.

When he refused, one of the men took out a gun and thrust it against his head.

Mahipos said he quickly got off, but one of the passengers took over the wheel and sped off.

The taxi was found idle along Sacris Road in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Missing from the car were a JVC car stereo worth P4,000 and his P2,000 in earnings. (FREEMAN)
