Paz’s inaugural address to be broadcast on “Youtube”

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza’s inaugural address will be broadcast live on “Youtube” on July 3.

The inaugural speech of daughter Aileen, who won as representative of the lone congressional district of Lapu-Lapu City, will be broadcast on “Youtube” as well.

On the same day, mother and daughter will both join the inaugural session of the city council where they will deliver their speeches.

The inaugural session will start with a mass at the lobby of the city hall at 1 p.m.

After the mass, Rep. Radaza, who will replace her father, will deliver her speech.

The mayor will deliver her speech when Rep. Radaza is finished.

City hall consultant Balbino Guerero said the mayor has started several digital initiatives to reach out to her constituents.

Her State of the City Address last year was made available through e-books, which can be accessed by scanning a QR code printed on tarpaulins at the entrance of the Hoopsdome.

The mayor has also introduced on-line journalism through the Mactan Post.

She has introduced digital journalism.

The city government has its own facebook account.

Guerero said the mayor can have a Youtube channel.

Guerero added that having the mayor’s speech broadcast on the Internet is a way of reaching out to residents who are abroad or who can’t go to city hall.

Jonji Gonzales, another city hall consultant, said two projectors will be utilized so people who can’t enter the session hall can see the event.

The session hall will be occupied by councilors and the taxpayers.

One projector will be set up at the lobby of the session hall where department heads and barangay officials will be seated.

Another projector will be set up at the main lobby of city hall, which will be open to the general public. (FREEMAN)
