PB commends veterinary office

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) has commended the City Veterinary Office (CVO) for stepping up its anti-rabies campaign with the vaccination and de-worming of over 1,000 farm animals in the City of Naga early this year.

Provincial Board Member Julian Daan, the district board member of the first district, said the city government has vaccinated a record high of 1,212 farm animals such as cattle, carabao, and goat in less than a month from February to March this year.

“The City of Naga steered a campaign against these diseases to ensure that the city is rabies-free and distributed free multivitamins to prevent domesticated animals from getting afflicted with diseases such as hemmorhagic septicemia,” the resolution read.

CVO head Dr. Raymundo V.P. Ramirez conducted the vaccination and de-worming of these farm animals in five hillyland villages, namely, Alpaco, Cabungahan, Bairan, Patag, and Jaguimit.

“This present assembly expresses commendation to the city especially the veterinary office for its exemplary work in anti-rabies campaign with vaccination and de-worming of about 1,212 farm animals and benefiting about 378 livestock farmers,” the resolution added.

In its May to June data, the CVO has expanded the coverage of its program by vaccinating 2,278 farm animals that benefitted 858 more farmers in 23 barangays namely: Alpaco, Cabungahan, Bairan, Patag, Jaguimit, Inayagan, Tuyan, Cantao-an, Tagjaguimit, Balirong, Lutac, Uling, Lanas, Cogon, Inoburan, Tinaan, Naalad, Pangdan, Tangke, Colon, South Poblacion, West Poblacion, and Mayana.

They also recorded a total of 22,066 vaccinations and provided 6,296 multi-vitamins and anti-parasitic vaccines as prevention against common diseases of livestock. (FREEMAN)
